First song?

What was the first Ev song you ever heard? Where was you? And what did you think of it?

For me, as for many others, it was Bring Me To Life. I first heard it on the radio (i think) or maybe it was when i watched Daredevil Bloody Hell it's so long ago i can barely remember

My first reaction was WOW! And is still my reaction because it is still an amazing song, not my favourite but not far from the top though. I fell in love with Amy's voice and with the music behind it, they reminded me of Linkin Park in a way. Which i thought was great Not long after that i bought the album, which was rare for me back then because i would normally only buy album if i was sure i would like every single song. But i just knew i was going to love it, and i was right, it still remains the best album i have ever listened to.

The first song I heard was Bring Me To Life as well, but I didn't like it at first!! I just thought it sounded weird

I didn't buy Fallen until I heard Going Under and My Immortal which I thought were awesome

Do you remember where you heard BMTL though? I'm sure it was played on the radio but i can't remember

Yeah it was always on the radio - first time I heard it I was at work! And I remember thinking what the hell is this?? I thought it was some sort of rap-rock when I first heard it. I never saw the video though - first video I saw was Going Under and I remember thinking - wow she's beautiful

It was the first video i saw, you got it with the single. She doesn't look that beautiful in that 1 though You can't really see her face. I also liked the male singing in it too, thought it sounded good with a bit of male

I think thats what was weird about it at first - I remember thinking the girl's got an amazing voice but then the chorus came in and it kind of ruined it. But I love it now!!

She looks amazing in BMTL! When she is laying in bed at the start and finish anyway!

Bring Me To Life.... I was in school listening to the radio with my friend, and I though...wow!!... that girl has an amazing voice

My answer is a very linear one. The first Ev song I ever heard was the first song on Fallen - 'Going Under.' I had heard some good things about a band called Evanescence, so I went down to our local public library (which is very close to my house) and did an author search for CDs under 'Evanescence.' Found one title: Fallen. I don't remember if it was checked in or if I had to put it on reserve, but I took it home and listened to it. About ten seconds into 'Going Under,' I knew this was a good band.

Not long after that, I began doing 'sounds like' searches in various places and eventually found a band from Florida called Lucid Fly, which is probably my favorite band of all right now. Found many others as well over the years, all because of Evanescence.

Anyway, that's my testimony.

Great story Lith Lucid Fly? I've heard of them, not really checked them out though. So you'd say they are like Evanescence then?

Somewhat similar. Both bands have a distinctly American 'alternative' sound and share an intelligence with respect to all aspects of their compositions, especially the lyrics. With Lucid Fly the music and rhythms are more complex. As with any other comparison, there are both similarities and differences. For me, the biggest thing with any band is that their music has to have an earnestness about it that convinces me it comes from a real place, as opposed to being manufactured. And that's something I feel that Ev and Lucid Fly both share, especially in the vocal department.

I'd heard BMTL but didn't really think much of it because I was only little. I saw Call Me When You're Sober on a music video channel and I fell in love with it. A few days later my brother bought Fallen for me and I've loved them ever since

The first song I heard was My Immortal.
I was at home and saw the songvideo on TV.
Then I thought: WOW, she has a beautiful voice!
I want to sing as good as her. Then I started at a singschool,
and bought two cd's evanescence had made.
That was how I got an Ev fan

Going Under. I was a freshman in high school at the time and a fellow drama student had told me to check out Ev. I bought the CD (at a Best Buy, yeah, I still remember) and brought it home and played it. Fallen was actually one of the only albums that I liked instantly, and liked every song on the album. Heh - my dad heard Haunted as I was blaring it, and he stuck his head in my room to yell: "What the blazing hellfire is that?"

Thus proving that parents can be very dense at times - at least when it comes to great music.

I heard BMTL in 2003, in a radio called "Cidade" which means city in Portuguese. It was night, I remember lol
I really liked the song. After that, my cousin showed me GU and I fell in love by Ev

The first Evanescence song i heard was as many others on here...'Bring Me To Life'. It was on MTV and i thought that girl can sing a bit and i liked the music too. I waited till the end of the video to find out who it was and found it was Evanescence. I checked out some more of their material and bought the album 'Fallen'...i was hooked and have been a fan ever since \m/
